| Arrogant Bastard Ale
by F. Sot Fitzgerald Funny label- serious beer! I enjoyed the angry text on the bottle which lashed out at drinkers of mass produced, bad American beers- "Questions or comments? If you don't like this beer, keep it to your self-- we don't want to hear from any sniveling yellow-beer drinking wimps, 'cause this beer wasn't made for you." Hell yeah! |

But with
all the scorn and, well, arrogance, I had to wonder if Stone Brewing
Company had oversold their beer. Answer- no, they did not.
Arrogant Bastard is a fine, beer, an unusual and I dare say unique beer. It's bitter, quite so, but not in the repulsive way that gas station coffee is bitter. It has terrific mouth-feel- you just want to keep slurping it about, though swallowing is good fun too- it's a hefty 7.2% alcohol. Assuredly not for the common man, this dark ale is one for the beer connoisseur. Bravo. (Rating ****) |
