| Famosa
by F. Sot Fitzgerald "Chicken beer." "What?" "Chicken beer. Give me the chicken beer." Zelduh looked at me funny, looked back into the fridge, and after a moment, seized out the bottle of Famosa. "Famous beer?" she asked? |
| "So the label
says. Or maybe it's the chicken on the label that's famous.
I don't know. I suppose I could call Cerveceria Centro in Guatemala
City and ask. Or the importers, Central Beer Import and Export of
Commerce, California. But why bother?"
She nodded and grabbed a Cabro, which is made by the same company and went out to sit in the sun. Famosa has a Beck's-like nose to it, meaning it has that funky burnt-citrus smell. If you like Beck's or Heineken, you'll enjoy this one, as it is is similar to them but milder. This straw colored, crisp lager is cheap, tastier than most mass-produced American domestics, and very enjoyable on a hot day or with spicey food. (Rating ***1/2) |
