| September's Cocktail of the Month: The Gimlet
by F. Sot Fitzgerald After a few months of new, fangled mixed drinks, let us return to a classic recipe- the Gimlet. The Gimlet is one of the easiest and most potent cocktails to be found. Take a small, squat glass, add an ice cube (unless you're a power drinker), pour in 2-3 ounces of gin, then add 2 teaspoons of Rose's Lime Juice; or, if you are in a pinch, 10 drips from a fresh cut lime. Give it a stir and drink up. A warning to the wise- while you can use cheap gin to make this drink and get away with it (the lime helps mask the nastyness), if you drink many Gimlets made from rotgut gin you'll awake the next morning with a wicked hangover. Go for something decent. If you need suggestions, check out the gin reviews in our Spirits Reviews section. |
