| October's Cocktail of the Month: The
Sidecar
by F. Sot Fitzgerald Here's a classic drink that has made a comeback recently. Though quite potent, it's a good drink for those who don't much like liquor, because it's quite smooth and pleasant. I like to shake mine (it makes it more frothy), so...pour two ounces of brandy (or, if you feel snazzy, Cognac or Armagnac) in a shaker, 2 teaspoons of Cointreau, and 2 teaspoons of fresh squeezed lemon juice. Plop a fat icecube in the shaker, cap it, shake it until the ice cub is reduced to shards, and pour it in either a rocks or martini glass, straining off the ice. Voila- you have a Sidecar. If you need suggestions for Brandy, have a peek at our Spirits Reviews section. |
