November's Cocktail of the Month:  Toddies!
by F. Sot Fitzgerald

o.k.- so maybe toddies aren't cocktails.  But they are mixed drinks, and now that cold and flu season is upon us, toddies are all the more appealing.

One typical recipe for a toddy is a shot of bourbon, a few drops of lemon juice, two or thee teaspoons of honey and 8 ounces of boiling water.  Good enough, but why not try something a little different?

Here are two suggestions:

1) The Quady Grappa Toddy- the same recipe as above, but use the Quady's Spirit of Elysium Grappa, which has a floral sent, instead of bourbon.  It goes gloriously with the honey and isn't as stiff.

2) The Calvados Toddy- again, same recipe, but substitute a shot of  Calvados instead for Bourbon.  Calvados is apple flavored, and everyone knows apples go with honey rather well.  For Calvados suggestions, head to our spirits section.  Just click the Liquors & Liqueurs Listed By Name link.
