Ketel One Citroen
by Kevin R. Kosar

Ketel One has become a huge hit in the United States in the past ten years.  My estimate is that this is owing to three factors.

First, that Ketel One is incredibly smooth.  This is a vodka you can sip straight or on the rocks with no fear or having your throat scorched.

Second, Ketel One never has any nasty metallic notes, which many cheap vodkas possess in spades.

Third, Americans are not learned vodka drinkers.  They tend to believe that vodka has no taste, or that it should not.  Tell them you taste toffee or grassy-vegetal flavors in a vodka and they will look at you like you're nuts.  Ketel One, by virtue of being so clean, so free from flavor, plays perfectly to this American preference.

So we turn to Ketel One Citroen.  This version of Ketel One is flavored with lemon.  Surprisingly, though, there's nothing sugary, saccharin, or over the top about it's taste.  Too often flavored vodkas are made to taste like Kool-Aid.

As with Ketel One, Citroen is extraordinarily smooth.  The lemon note is present, but not overly so, and it finishes smooth and dry.  Highly recommended.  (Rating ****)
