Electra 1999 & Elysium 1998
By Zelduh Fitzgerald
Spring is here (FINALLY!) and let's face it...whether you're a girly girl or a rebel to the feminine mystique, you've probably been struck by the urge to get your fingers into the potting soil and plant something.  Personally, I'm an herb gardener; I've always preferred an earthy, spicey aroma. So I was a little suprised when I found myself wanting to plant gardenias.
Gardenias?!  Wasn't that the scent of my grandmother's perfume?  Dear god, is this what happens with age?

It all started with a glass of Electra.  Electra is an orange muscat dessert wine with a remarkably low alcohol content-just 4% (great for the low tolerants among us or those trying to avoid the alcohol blahs).  True to a dessert wine, this is one sweet aperitif.  The heavenly citrus flower scent mixed with the grapes pulled late from the vine give this wine the intoxicating smell of gardenias.  I've changed my tune about the citrus and floral categories!  Wonderful on the tongue.  Stays well in the fridge for a languid drinking of a delightful bottle.  Sip on this as you garden...and don't forget to kiss the toads.  Hey, you never know! I can't recall the last time I saw a wine that looked like this- clear and deep plum.  Elysium
