As I've said before, when I drink a port, I'm looking for something that is lush, lacking in alcohol stink, and sufficiently complex to engage my mind.  Something stiff and grapey or thin and simplex is not what I want. I go to port when I want to be soothed and engaged, as if by a genial and thoughtful old friend.
