In June of 2000, Stonehaven's premium range Syrah and Merlot won gold medals and best of variety in the San Francisco International Wine Challenge.  However, it seems that every winery one reds about can boast of a victory or prize from some contest.  So I shrugged at this news and a few days later sat down to give these Australian wines a run.  As it turned out, the Stonehaven Shiraz's were superb, among the best I've ever tasted.
