Four Low Priced Cabernet Sauvignons- Sunrise 1999, Woodbridge 1997, Michel Lynch 1998, Santa Julia Reserva 1998 & Te Kairanga 1999

With the stock market in a nasty dip and my stock losses growing, I, of course, am inclined to turn to drink.  Can you blame me?  Then again, running low on dollars leaves me to economize, and so we have me sawing through, with the aid of two novice and one experienced taster, 5 bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon, ranging from $7 to $14 a bottle.

Sunrise Cabernet Sauvignon 1999 ($7.99)- the ultimate bargain, party red wine.  It's lean, tastes of a little of sweet green peppers and closes a touch hot, though given a year it will likely soften.  Pair it with pasta, burgers and anything bold or blackened, and in 2001 break it out when your home is overrun by thirsty guests who are looking to quaff alot and babble.  (Rating **3/4)
