PENTHOUSE
PET OF THE YEAR PARTY
Who says summers in Manhattan aren't busy! Things got off
to a bang very quickly with the Penthouse Pet of the
Year Party. Held in the cavernous and very cool Manhattan
Club, Ohm, it featured the a bevy of Penthouse
Pets and Pet of the Year Zdenka from the Czech
Republic. As for drinks- the hundreds assembled drank plenty
of Czechvar beer and were guzzling down the mind
scrambling and physically arousing Fernet-Cola Cocktail,
which is simply a shot of Fernet
Branca liqueur, ice, and cola in a collins glass.

COCKTAILS
AT THE REGENT
After recovering from this blow out, we loped on down
to the glorious Regent
Wall
Street Hotel. This fabulous 150+ year old building
has been transformed into a gorgeous hotel that caters
to the high end consumer yet maintains a certain levity.
Guests are given |
free
lollipops and the cocktail menu includes fun drinks with
names like the Wall Street Big Daddy Cherry Popper.
They've also have whipped up some fascinating amalgams and
variations on classics. For example-
why have a glass of sparkling wine when you can have one
spiked with blackberry liqueur and a sprig of mint? Or why
go for a regular martini when you can have a Karma Sutra
(Grey Goose, tea, saffron)?
Why, indeed!

COCKTAILS
WITH CHARRO
The came a boat ride around the southern tip of Manhattan
with the irreverent folks of Alize cognac. It was a night of irreverent kitsch. The South Street
Seaport dock was transformed into a Frankie-Avalon-era
beach party, complete with male and female bikini models...
and the eternally splendid Charro (koochie, koochie!) |
Once we set out to sea, there were drag queens spinning albums and dozens of party-goers danced crazily. Tasty Alize cocktails were dished out at a furious pace.
We two fisted it, gulping Alize VSOP on ice with one hand an chasing it with Alize Red Passion and Champagne cocktails. While our editor maintained his sobriety,
both F. Sot Fitzgerald and Charles Westbrook got loopy and spent much of the journey home grappling in the streets of Manhattan and arguing over whether to
head uptown to watch the drag queens throw another party.
